Truthiness

The truth is ~ I loved and fretted over him like I imagine any one who is fortunate enough to have children does. The truth is ~ he was my sweet little friend.

The truth is ~ he had a face only a mother could love. The truth is ~ he was very sick and in his last days. The truth is ~ he knew it was his time, and never complained. The truth is ~ even though its been over a year, these pictures still choke me up. The truth is ~ he had a good life. The truth is ~ we all return to the earth. The truth is ~ I never thought I would love again like I loved him.

The truth is ~ I have learned to love again. The truth is ~ he would have wanted it that way.

A date with death

Seems very strange to make a phone call for death.
Me: dialing phone ring...ring...

Vet: Dr. McNeill

Me: Hi, Dr. McNeill. This is Lucy, my cat is One, the 17 year old orange tabby with the liver failure. Vet: Hi. How's the little stud doing? Me: Well, I think he's ready to be.... I think that I need to.......

he's, well, you know, not doing so well.....and, you know,

well, it might be Time.

You know I can't imagine how that phone call will go. What words will I actually be able to make come from my mouth? I need to make that call this afternoon. I'm still in denial about it. I will be to the bitter end. How do I tell someone I would like them to come to my home and end the life of the sweet little orange hairy love of my life. Granted, his quality of life has gone down the toilet. (I'll need reminded of that.) I know he's had a wonderful life with me. I have the scars to prove it. No, really, I have scars. He was a monster (but a lovable one) during his day. I'll actually carry him with me forever, through the scars.

One - The Later Years

Ahh napping, there's nothing quite like a good nap. I miss those days of graham crackers and a good nap in the middle of the afternoon. I wonder why we decide that at a certain age naps are no longer acceptable. Seems to me a good nap would improve the crankiness factor that occassionally rears its ugly head in the early afternoon. I'm not just talking about myself here either.

This is One laying under a dryer heated towel. Yes, spoiled woud be an accurate description.
He puts up with me and the camera so well.

Update, or more like a Backdate

Mr. One in his fat and happy years. Somewhere around 1996. These were the years we grew up together. Scrapping it out when he wasn't getting his way. Probably a few times when I wasn't getting my way too.

Rest assured, it was Christmas time, hence the bow around his neck. He didn't wear the bow as a general rule. I'm not that evil.

One with Teresa. What a great belly!! (One, not Teresa.)

Cat Collage

He loves his tummy rubbed.
and his ears and back and tail chin and forehead and...
He loves to just be near us.
he'll cry and cry until you pick him up or let him in your lap. if there isn't a lap available, he'll paw and claw until he is just as close as possible.
He loves attention. he won't be ignored. he doesn't even like to share you with the telephone. he sneak attack~dive bombed me with his head once when i was on the phone and ignoring him. i had a bruise (a bruise whacked out, like i'd been struck by a softball bruise my friend) on my calf the size of, well the size of his little noggin'.
He's whacky, fuzzy and whiny. He's so loved.

Excuses, Got to be good at something

I miss my mom, I miss my family.
Its been a quite a while since I saw them. My nieces may be unrecognizable. It will be a few more weeks. They only live a few hours away, but I've got a slew of excuses as to why its been forever since I went to see them. Gas prices being number one. Can I blame this on our fascist emir Cheney and his side kick lil' Bush? Oy, it is early in the day for that kind of venom. Time. There's a big one. I have 'stuff' to do and take care of. I guess I'm also just a little lazy. It's easy to come up with excuses why I haven't gone to see them. I've just got to get up and go. But then there's the friend's 4oth birthday, the friend's house warming, the kayaking class I want to take and the yard with weeds as high as my eye and and and.... You see where I'm going with this. Procrastination is a talent I possess.
So, make better use of my time. I guess I should add that to my list of self-improvement mantras. How long can that list get?
A cat pic to end the week on a good note.

Can't help myself

My sweetheart is so good to me. He's suggested we take many pictures of Mr. One due to his age and apparent state of decline. Of course I argued, "No, not pictures of my little orange buddy!" Ha! So, pictures abound. Lucky reader. Admit it, he's cute!
Mr. One

Hmm, what's that you've got there?

Ok, I've smelled it, done now!

Oh, ok, one more.

I'm leaving! I'll do it! I'm going now!

Resigned to the photo montage and yes, my feet are cute.

BooBoo-Palooza

Napping. Assume the position.
What's that... something to attack?
I'm outta here. (What a cute little orange booty!)
I just can't get away from the Paparazzi.
Hmm, soy latte for me?

The many faces of One (aka BooBoo, orange hairball, etc). Little Mr. One will be lonely while we're away. The little monster will be alone to nap 22 hours each day without interruption. How marvelous that sounds. So, if you are inclined to check in on him, this is likely what you'll find, oh, and when he's not sleeping, you'll find him at the water dish because the spoiled love of my life sleeps under a heat lamp. Poor old kitty.

My funny Valentine

Mr. One. Today is One's birthday. 17 years he's been my Valentine. My faithful, loyal love. Yes, he may have a face only a mother can love, but he's my sweetheart. Anyone who has had the privilege of meeting him, knows he's got personality to spare. I'm certain he'll have several guest appearances.
